In 2018, back due to wildly popular demand from audiences and participants alike, the Northumberland Down Under Tour is coming to New Zealand again.
Riding the coat tails of three successful Northumberland Down Under Tours the fourth tour promises to be even more fun, bring even more music, and even more adventures over the fabulous wine country of the South Island of New Zealand.
The Northumberland Down Under Tour plans to cover not as much ground as the previous tours, with a focus on quality time spent in beautiful locations and playing local concerts.
The itinerary will start in the Hawkes Bay, using this as our base. We will have trips across the reaches of the lower North Island, including possible trips to Wellington, Rotorua, New Plymouth, Masterton, and Auckland. There will be a balance between music, playing, relaxation, sight seeing and exploration. There will be the chance to swim in the ocean, hike through hills, taste wines and coffees, fresh fruit and local produce.
We will keep you updated as the itinerary develops further.
The Northumberland Down Under Tour is available to book to play at venues across the lower North Island in January 2018. Please contact us if you are interested in discussing the Northumberland Down Under Tour 2018
Helen , what are the dates for our visit? My brother lives in the North Island and I need to stay with him after the event. Is it time to book flights? Vanessa Taylor. taylor4hp@btinternet.com

7th to 31st January. It is probably wise to start looking at flights, yes. To and from Christchurch. xx

Hi Gill,
The bus is organised with the same wonderful driver we have had on previous tours: Neil Jamieson.
The accommodation for the first 4 days is at Blue Skies Centre near Christchurch. Other accommodation is in the pipeline and can be confirmed when we have firm numbers. We expect an average of around $50 per night, though the number of participants will affect costs.
The uniform code is black and white in blocks not patterns.
Participants will be requested to give tune suggestions.
It would be nice to recruit a few extra participants, but we have enough to make it work.
Is there anything else I can help with?
Helen

Thanks Helen. Vanessa and I and Helen McCrae have been talking about this and we wonder if we could have a list of all the UK participants with the intention that we might see how many of us would like to sort out flights together and also nearer the time when there is an idea of a playlist we could get some of us together to practice some of the tunes. It was a shame you didn’t stay long enough at Bellingham – it would be good to have had chance to chat. All good wishes, Gill.
